Standard
Specification
Engine and alternator close coupled via bellhousing and resiliently
mounted. Engine supports raised to achieve low vibration performance.
All pipework and electrical wiring on set, Rating as per BS649 and
DIN 6270, governing class A2. Failsafe system to provide protection
against lack of oil pressure and overheating. Fan for hot air extraction
from under the sound enclosure. Each set factory tested and sprayed
in blue hammer, heat resistant paint. The sound enclosure is of substantial
construction, combining the best use of GRP and Balsa Wood. Lead sheeting
is laminated into the glass fibre structure to improve the acoustic
performance. Noise reduction is considerable, bearing in mind the
small dimensions and the low weight. The new cocooned set incorporates
all relevant features to simplify installation on board. All services
to and from the cocoon have external connections to ease service access
and increase cost effectiveness.
Waste Energy
The
radiated hot air created as a result of engine heat radiation and
cooling of the alternator windings is expelled from the cover via
an engine driven fan. This waste heat can be utilised for warm air
heating on board. HFL offer a separate heating kit which allows
for easy installation. Do not attempt your own modification without
consulting HFL first since poisonous exhaust emission has to be
considered. Cooling water from the engine heat exchanger can be
utilised to heat a calorifier in order to provide hot water on board.
Engine
Low weight, low profile, high-speed watercooled 4-stroke Mitsubishi
diesel engine from the L-family. Cylinder heads and blocks are light-weight
but rigid with high durability. High degree of interchangeability
of parts between 2 and 3 cylinder engines. Low noise, smooth running
characteristics with Bosch M-type injection pump and mechanical
centrifugal type governor. Forced oil lubrication system. Marinisation
by HFL using dual circuit cooling via heat exchanger and watercooled
exhaust manifold with water injected elbow. Belt-driven seawater
pump with easily accessible belt tension adjustment.
Alternator
Brushless, lightweight alternator. Good current compounding characteristic
which offers excellent motor starting without overloading engine.
Power factors vary between 0.8 up to unity. Overload capacity of
up to 300% i.e. 2 to 3 f.l. current. Radio suppression to meet VDE
0875 grade N and BS 800 as standard. All machines to comply with
BS 5000:3, BS 4999, IEC 34-1 and VDE 0530. Voltage: 110/220 dual
1 phase; 220/380 3 phase.
